January beginners are doing great!  Nasser will provide guidance to the guest callers so that everything remains on the straight and narrow path. :)  The beginner progress chart will continue to be posted each week at http://www.fundancers.org/beginchart.htm.

Sunday March 18, featuring special Line Dance workshop event

Sunday, March 18
  3 to 5 pm - Special Line Dance Workshop with Ira Weisburd
  5 to 7 pm - Squares and Lines for January Beginners
  7 to 9 pm - Squares and Lines for Experienced Dancers
  9:15 pm - afterparty at Chuy's
 
This is the first time FunDancers has ever tried a special Line Dance workshop. (We're always trying fun new things!) Ira Weisburd is an international award-winning line dance choreographer. He'll show us his latest innovations. We expect (okay, we hope for) a bunch of first-time visitors from the line dance world.
 
Registration for Ira's special line dance workshop is at 2:30 pm. Dancing starts at 3 pm. Cost for the workshop is $15. For more info, go to fundancers.org and click around until you find the flyer. :)
 
The January Beginners are dancing extremely well!  Congratulations to these fun people.  Of course the Experienced Dancers at 7 pm are right up there among the very finest square and line dancers in the universe.  It's a party every Sunday!

Sunday, January 29 - Beginners at 5 pm
 
January Beginners have danced 3 weeks now. Calls which were taught and used all 3 weeks are now "Calls We Know" and are listed on the Progress Chart at the FunDancers website. Direct link is http://www.fundancers.org/beginchart.htm or go to FunDancers.org, look for "Beginners" block (hint: it's orange) and click on "Progress Chart". The chart has links to various learning resources so you can review the calls.
 
We want all beginners to hang in there and have a great time!  Yet we also want to use our valuable beginner dance time for new and fun things rather than constantly re-teaching calls everyone already knows. Hence the list of "Calls We Know".
 
Brand-new beginners are still welcome at the Beginner dance, even if they never danced before, provided that they can do the "Calls We Know".  In theory, you could learn all the calls from the internet and then you would never have to put up with a smart-aleck instructor. :)  But most people prefer to learn by doing.  If you know someone who still wants to get into January Beginners, contact us BEFORE Sunday and we'll show up a half-hour early for a quick catch-up session.
 
Big thanks to all who help make the Beginner Dances at 5 pm so much fun!  Beginners, please plan to stay until about 7:15 pm to dance a tip at full speed with the Experienced dancers.

Saturday, February 4 - Crash Course in Advanced
 
For Experienced Plus Dancers who want to explore the Advanced program, we offer our first-ever day-long intro to Advanced.  It's at a special location (see flyer for details). Find the flyer on FunDancers.org or DanceWithSam.com or Nshukayr.com.  Let's admit it, if you can't find the flyer than you're probably not ready for Advanced. :) Anyway, on February 4th you can get a good intro to Advanced, just to find out if you like it.
 
We request that you pre-register so we'll know how many people to expect.  You do NOT have to pay in advance, but do let us know if you want us to save a place for you.  Also, when you pre-register we'll email you a booklet which gives you a sneak peak at the Advanced calls prior to the event.

Last Saturday, Mike and Marjean Sikorsky drove 70 miles (each way) to dance to Nasser in Arizona. This Sunday, Nasser and Jeanna will drive only 8 miles (each way) to dance to Mike Sikorsky at FunDancers. We are looking for someone to drive 62 miles (each way) to make up the difference! If you drive 62 or more miles to the Mike Sikorsky special this Sunday, let us know so you can receive special recognition and/or a cash prize!
